Endovenous Chemical Ablation is an alternative to surgically stripping a varicose vein. Using an ultrasound to visually guide him, Dr. Haraway will insert a chemical irritant called sclerosant into the diseased vein. The irritant causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. A foam or liquid sclerosant can be used for this treatment. After the procedure, you will wear a compression stocking on the treated leg for a minimum of 1 week. You should be able to return to work the next day.
